$875.00

Celebrate American history with this exceptional 1936-D Columbia South Carolina Commemorative Half Dollar, graded NGC MS67+. Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Columbia, this silver classic features a stately design honoring both the city’s history and South Carolina’s early roots.

Struck in Denver, this example boasts vibrant original luster, razor-sharp details, and eye appeal worthy of the lofty MS67+ designation. The surfaces are exceptionally clean, with strong cartwheel luster and no distracting marks—making it a true gem in every sense.

With a low mintage of just 8,007 Denver-issued coins, this issue is already scarce, and top-graded examples like this are increasingly difficult to find.

Though the mintages and survival rates of the three 1936 Columbias are nearly identical, for some reason the 1936-D is far easier to find in MS66, MS67 and even MS68 condition than the 1936 and 1936-S. Most 1936-Ds have very mark-free surfaces and either very frosty, semi-satinlike luster or nice, often very attractive, toning.
